Every Sanborn Canoe Co. paddle is handmade Winona, Minnesota.
Nothing beats great handcrafted workmanship. Every detail is scrutinized to ensure you get a great paddle to take on your adventures.
Of course we know cedar looks great but it’s also so, so light! We shave off just the right amount of wood to get down to the lightest possible paddle. And since cedar is so light our paddles come in at 15—19oz. And that’s never frowned upon when out on a long trek. But make sure to check out our Minnesota line of paddles to see what some hardwood can add to a paddle.
Thin is better! You’ll notice how quiet and effortlessly our paddles slice through the water. But as thin as we craft our blades we don’t skimp on durability. They are sheathed in 4oz. Fiberglass from blade tip to throat and are coated with at least three layers of epoxy. And our epoxy tips are there for the inadvertent rock swipe.
A well balanced paddle is essential to an enjoyable paddling experience. Not only does it assist when swinging over the gunwales, but it feels lighter and handles better in the water than a unbalanced paddle. All of our paddles are crafted to balance perfectly - a well balanced paddle feels almost as if it is floating in your hand!
