Canaveral National Seashore is quickly becoming our go-to for a quick weekend adventure. About a two-hour drive from where we live, it doesn’t take much for us to throw some gear in the back of the truck and get away for the weekend. Paddling a canoe while dolphins swim a few feet off the bow can quickly make you feel far from home.
While our friends up north were snowed in, going through one of the worst winters in recent memory, we couldn’t complain about a perfect weekend of sunshine and temps in the sixties and seventies. We packed what we needed into two aluminum canoes and set out to camp.
It was probably about 11pm when we were out fishing that we realized we hadn’t seen or heard another person all day. That’s our idea of getting away.
