Measuring 17 inches (top of head to handle) this USA-made Council Tools Velvicut axe blends a 2-lb quality steel head with an ergonomic, hand-shaped grip. It's size is perfect for splitting wood around the campfire, without being cumbersome when using it on smaller cuts. And of course it wouldn't be a Sanborn axe without further refinements to the grip shape, and a striking paint scheme applied by hand.
