Smart looking and well-built. I don't portage. I day trip. So, why do I need these? Canoe management. I hate things sliding around the bottom of the canoe. I carry a spare paddle with me, always. By using these straps, I can now keep that spare paddle securely attached where, should I need it, I can get to it quickly. When I'm fishing, I don't have to worry about that spare paddle rattling around, scaring the fish away. If I did portage my canoe, these things would be even more useful. But, as it is, they're worth it as used!
